
The caddisflies (caddisflies) are small butterflies of the order Trichoptera whose larvae live in water.

Caddisfly larvae build around it a protective shell original: first, it spins a silk dress from the secretions of salivary glands. Then she covers the disparate elements, twigs, pebbles and shells collected at the bottom with its mouthparts and forelegs.

The idea of Hubert Duprat was to provide some of these larvae, instead of the usual elements, gold, pearls and precious stones to decorate their costumes. The result is these strange and luxurious bags.
